  • Funeral services for Ora Jean Day will be held 11a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11 at Mt. Olive M.B. Church in the Sandtuck community.

  • Ora Jean Day, affectionately known as Jean, was born March 8, 1948 to Mose and Hazel Robinson in Marvell. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age at Branch Baptist M.B. Church. She later joined Mt. Olive M.B. Church where she remained a faithful member until her health began to fail. Ora Jean worked various jobs in the Phillips County area including Helena Sportswear for over 20 years, at Mid-Delta as a van driver as well as at Asbury Daycare as a child care provider. She was active in several organizations including the NIRA and the I.L.G.W. Union. Her father, Mose Robinson Sr., brothers, Roeshell Robinson and John Robinson, a stepsister, James Ora Johnson and a granddaughter, Miranda Carruth, preceded Ora Jean in death. Ora Jean leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 48 years, Rube Day; five sons, Shufford (Kathy) Day, Ronnach (Wanda) Day, Roosevelt (Wynola) Day, Jamarcus Day; two daughters, Mary J. (Terry) Albert, Rita (Demarkco) Stiger; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her mother, Hazel R. Johnson; four brothers, Lash (Wilma) Robinson, Mose Robinson Jr., James I. Brown, Lee Andrew (Carol) Robinson; five sisters, Bernice Robinson, Bobbie (Samuel) Johnson, Katherine Williams, Glendree (Raymond) Cobb, Jessie Mae (John) Smith; two aunts, Elmo Greer and Mose Lee Cheetum; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Funeral services for Ora Jean Day will be held 11a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11 at Mt. Olive M.B. Church in the Sandtuck community. Rev. Buckette will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery.
