The Arkadelphia freshman Badger basketball team battled back from a significant deficit, but a strong fourth quarter by the Hope Bobkittens cost the Badgers the game as they fell 49-32 at home Saturday.
Hope jumped to an 11-7 lead in the opening period, and they stretched that lead to 18-12 by the halftime break.
The Badgers came out strong in the third period, putting up 10, but Hope continued to lead, adding 12 for a 30-22 buffer with six minutes to go.
The Badgers dominated much of the final period, pulling to a four-point deficit, but Hope fought back to take the win.
Hayden Spells led the Badgers with 12 points, and Preston Crowder added eight.
Tim Newton and Javeon Nelson had five apiece, and Robert Morgan and Chris Laver had one each.
The Badgers hit seven of 12 attempts from the free throw line for 58 percent efficiency.
The Badgers will travel to Hot Springs Friday evening to face Lake Hamilton in the opening round of the Kameron Hale Invitational. Tip-off is set for 6:45 p.m.
