The Freshman Badger basketball squad did not score first Thursday night, but they did score last, earning a 42-38 victory over the Lakeside Rams in overtime.
Although the Rams took first blood in the game, the Badgers took the first quarter, gaining a 6-2 lead.
The Badgers again outscored the visitors in the second period for a
21-13 at the half.
After the break, both teams put up six in the third, 27-19, before the Rams drew alongside the Badgers in the final seconds of the game to tie it up at 34-34.
The Badgers held the Rams to a three-pointer and a single free throw in the overtime period while adding eight of their own.
Ty Kosters led the Badgers with 13 points on the night.
Jeffrey Blake put up 11 points.
Danny Spradlin added seven, Jathan Bowens had six, Jacob Coon three and Bailey Goza two.
The Badgers were able to sink 13 of their 23 shots for 57 percent from the free throw line.
The Badgers will be back in action Monday, Dec. 17 as they travel to Camden Fairview to face the Cardinals. Tip-off will follow the eighth grade boys and freshman girls games.
