Darlene Stubbs Hendricks, 84, died Dec. 29, 2011, following a lengthy illness. Darlene was born April 28, 1927, near De Queen, to Richard and Darthulia Lewis Stubbs.
Darlene was a Christian. She was an active member of Gurdon First Baptist Church for many years before her illness. She was a homemaker and worked at Browning’s Jewelers for 13 years, Austin’s Variety & Realty and did clothing alterations.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Hendricks Sr.; her parents; two brothers, Weldon and Lewis Stubbs; and one sister, Betty Jean Stubbs.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, John and Karen Lacy Hendricks of Heber Springs; one daughter, Elizabeth and Retired Major Roy F. Wilson of Gurdon; three grandchildren, John Ed Hendricks, Melanie Wilson and Andrew Wilson; and three great-grandchildren, Erin Hendricks, John David Hendricks and Jane Wilson.
Visitation will be Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011, prior to service from 1-2 p.m. in the Chapel of Pharr Funeral Home.
Service will follow at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Pharr Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Taylor officiating.
Interment will be in Rose Hedge Cemetery under the direction of Pharr Funeral Home of Gurdon.
