The Southside Rebels dominated the first period, outscoring the Badgers
19-2, and the Badgers continued to lag behind at the half, 42-14.
In the third stanza of play, the Badgers were able to win the period, putting up 19 points to cut the lead to 54-33, but the Rebels added 14 while holding the Badgers to nine for the final.
Jakhiri Dixon led the Badgers with 12 points in the game, and he also led in rebounding, pulling down seven boards.
Kris Oliver had seven points and six rebounds.
Rashad Young and Drew Williams put up six points each. Williams also had six boards.
Derius Holt had five points and six rebounds.
“We didn’t shoot well at all,” said head coach Donald Williams. “We shot 27 percent from the field, and we shot 46 percent from the free throw line. We’ve got to shoot a lot better. We just didn’t play like I?know we’re capable of playing.”
The Badgers will face off against Mansfield Legacy today at 4:15 p.m.
