Henry Douglas Murphy, 70, of Arkadelphia, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010.  He was born Dec. 16, 1939 in Carthage, son of the late Louie and Henrietta O’Hara Murphy.

He was a graduate of Carthage High School and was a member of Victory Temple Church Of God In Christ.

Those left to celebrate his life and legacy are his wife, Samella Hill Murphy; his children, Ricky Conner of Houston, Texas, Alvin Pennix of Long Beach, Calif., Henry Florence of Malvern, Zina Bailey of Arkadelphia, Joel Broomfield of Las Vegas, Nev., Tamara Jolly, Kendalll Murphy and Gwendolyn Pollins, all of Hot Springs; one brother, Floyd Murphy of Detroit, Mich.; twenty five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. 
Mr. Murphy will lie in state in the funeral home on Monday, Feb.1, 2010, 11a.m.- 7 p.m. The family will receive friends 6-7 p.m.
Homegoing Celebration will be held Tuesday, Feb. 2, at noon in Greater Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Dr. Lewis A. Shepherd, Jr., is the pastor, Superintendent Elder Leroy Williams, officiating and Elder Robert Davis will preach the message of hope and comfort.
The committal service and final resting place will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.  Services provided the staff of Williams Funeral Home, Inc.
