Willie J. Stitt, 67, of Gurdon died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010. He was born April 20, 1942, the son of Jessie and Tossera Burban Stitt in Gurdon.

Willie J. Stitt, 67, of Gurdon died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010. He was born April 20, 1942, the son of Jessie and Tossera Burban Stitt in Gurdon.
He attended Mt. Canaan Baptist Church. He was a maintenance worker for Gurdon Public School System.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Steve Green; six brothers, Sherman, Tony, Herschel, Roosevelt, Joe Terry and Horace; and his sister, Dorothy Bowman.
Those left to celebrate his life are his wife, Henrietta Giles Stitt; his children, Cynthia Gulley, Charlesetta Ivory, Dorothy Ivory, James Miller, Eric Jones and Cathy Dickens; four brothers, Robert Stitt, Charles Stitt, Jessie Stitt of San Francisco, and Bobby Stitt of Hot Springs; and nine grandchildren.
Mr. Stitt will lie in state at Williams Funeral Home on Friday, Jan. 29, from noon until 5 p.m. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
A Service of Triumph & Thanksgiving will be shared at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30, in the sanctuary of Mt. Canaan Baptist Church, Gurdon, where the Rev. Johnny Harris is the pastor and his brother-in-law Dr. James H. Giles Sr. will preach a message of comfort and hope.
The committal service and earthly resting place will be in Sandy Cemetery in Gurdon.
