Kyle Jones, grant researcher for the City of Arkadelphia, takes a seat in one of the city’s 10 new 2010 Toyota Camry hybrid police cars. A couple cars arrived in Arkadelphia Thursday, and those who attended the regular board meeting got a peek at one of the car’s interior and under its hood, which has a 16-valve engine that can switch from electricity to gasoline. The cars are expected to use 23 miles per gallon, compared to the 13 miles per gallon that current patrol cars get on the streets. The rest of the fleet will be unveiled next Friday in Little Rock, where Gov. Mike Beebe is expected to make an appearance and speech on the first “green” fleet in the state. Also pictured is City Treasurer Glen Beedle and Sgt. Jason Jackson of APD.
