  • A Sparkman man was killed and three Arkadelphia residents injured in a one-vehicle accident that happened in Saline County Sunday morning.
According to a report filed by Cpl. Jeff Ramsey of the Arkansas State Police, Willie A. Hamilton, 25, of Arkadelphia was driving west on Interstate 30 near the 117 milemarker when, after trying to avoid an earlier accident, he drove off the highway to the right side and crossed the median and the access road at 5:44 a.m. The 2000 Dodge Durango then flipped “several times” before finally landing in a church parking lot.
Thomas Andrew Fite, 27, a passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hamilton, Maegan R. Hamilton, 22, and Brandon Moore, 28, all of Arkadelphia, were taken by ambulance to Saline County Memorial Hospital.
No one in the vehicle was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, according to the report.
